The annual programme aims to educate and assist matriculants from public schools who are studying maths and science. Primestars and partners of the organisation successfully do so by transporting learners to Ster Kinekor theatres on Sundays for revisions.

Managing director of Primestars, Martin Sweet explained, “A solid maths and science grounding is crucial, especially when it comes to acceptance for various degrees, future career success and meeting the ever-changing demands of a technological world.

“The screenings of the lessons in the theatre are made up of 10 pre-recorded revision sessions: five in maths and five in science, These sessions cover the entire matric curriculum and are aimed at preparing South African youth from under-resourced areas for their finals.”

Since its official start 11 years ago, Primestars were assisted by various entities such as Cell C, Protea Chemicals, Liberty, Spar, Airlink and the National Department of Basic Education on the development of their mission of closing the digital divide.

Guest speakers, including Nomaxabiso Matjila of Liberty Group South Africa, encouraged all the learners to take advantage of the resources provided as it will ensure a better future for them and the country.

The conclusion of the launch had one representative from each entity receiving their very own diplomas of gratitude from the Primestars team in a make-believe graduation ceremony.
