ESPN Africa Boxing rocks Sandton
ESPN Africa’s 18th instalment of its popular boxing tournament saw six of the seven fights ending in knockouts.
The popular 18th instalment of the ESPN Africa Boxing tournament kept audiences on the edge of their seat.
The event, held on June 30 at The Galleria in Sandton, provided a spectacular display of boxing, with six of the seven fights ending in knockouts.


For the main event, the Democratic Republic of the Congo’s Emmany Kalombo was crowned the new International Boxing Federation (IBF) International Junior Middleweight champion with an impressive total knockout (TKO) win over Kenya’s Rayton Okwiri.

The co-main event saw local boxer Thulani Mbenge earn an easy second round TKO win over Idd Pialari from Tanzania in their International Welterweight match.

Other main card results included Sikho Nqothole won by TKO over Selemani Bangaiza, Gift Bholo won by knock-out (KO) over Hannock Phiri and Jabulani Makhense won by TKO over Paul Kamanga.


In the undercard, Sinethemba Blom won by unanimous decision over Sandile Dumisa and Cayden Truter won by KO over Khanyisani Mbokazi.
