Marlboro community hosts winter donation drive

Marlboro residents recently came together to host a blanket donation drive to help keep individuals in need warm this winter.

The Marlboro community recently came together to share the warmth with individuals in need in Alexandra.

Members of the Baitun Khair and the Marlboro Gardens Muslim Community recently hosted a donation drive for winter blankets.

The blankets were distributed to elderly and unemployed people at the Setswetla informal settlement, in addition to unemployed individuals in Marlboro Gardens who stand at the traffic lights on Lilium Drive.

According to active community member Liaquad Ebrahim, who conducts the donation drive, it is important for the community to work together and help those in need.

“We wish to help people who do not have enough resources to live better lives and we will always extend a helping hand to our neighbours and to alleviate poverty.

“As a community we also assist in emergency cases like families who have been affected by informal settlement.”
