Successful health day for Rays of Hope

It was a successful day for the Rays of Hope non-profit organisation as it evaluated an impressive 350 children in Alexandra during its annual Health Check Day.

As part of its continuous community outreach, Rays of Hope recently carried out its annual Health Check Days in Alexandra.

The day saw 18 medical personnel volunteer their time and resources to check on the general health of all the children in each of the organisation’s community-based programmes.

“These checks included eye, ear and teeth health, as well as overall statistics and wellness. For most of the children, this is the only time that they receive any form of medical check-up,” read a statement by Rays of Hope.

A total of 350 children received comprehensive checks, with 68 of these children being referred to local clinics afterwards for further attention as deemed necessary.

“This is phenomenal, giving more children the opportunity to receive the healthy start in life that they deserve.

“We want to express our gratitude to all of the doctors, nurses, medical students, and community hour’s students who offered their time to assist us in making the Health Check Days so successful.”
