The Ryu Ken Chi Dojo (RKC Dojo) in Rivonia embraced the force for Star Wars Day on May 4 with a special training session.
May the 4th Be With You, also known as Star Wars Day, is an informal commemorative day celebrated on May 4 to highlight the Star Wars franchise. RKC Dojo traded their bamboo, wooden and steel swords for lightsabers.

According to the dojo’s chief instructor Warren Ho, members were treated to a fun evening of training, dueling and photo and video opportunities with some combat-ready lightsabers.
“The buzz and hums of some of the lightsabers left members giggling like children in a candy store again, as it invoked memories of Luke Skywalker, Darth Vader and other iconic figures.”
The Kendo Kids members also joined in for their first Star Wars experience.

“Our foundation principles of focused training, having fun, and creating a family-like environment are key to our dojo’s success. Besides being a huge Star Wars fan, I thought it would be a great event to put on for the members to do in person at the dojo,” said Ho.
Two years ago, during the height of the pandemic and lockdowns, the dojo had to celebrate Star Wars Day from their homes with virtual training.
