Randburg CPF chairperson

KENSINGTON B – The community policing forum is currently finalising its safety plan for the 2022/23 financial year.

The chairperson of the Randburg Community Policing Forum has encouraged community members to become more involved in preventing and reporting crime.

Kerry Wetton took over from Darryl Currie halfway through last year, after serving as the chairperson of Sector 1 for a few years.

“We have been very pleased overall with the ongoing work in our various sectors, resulting in a lower crime rate over a number of areas and are thankful to our amazing station commander Brigadier Michelle Jones and her team for their tireless efforts in making sure we as a community are safe and secure,” she said.

“We would, however, like to see more involvement by community members in the CPF going forward.”

The organisation is in the process of finalising its community safety plan for the 2022/23 financial year.

This is looking positive, Wetton said, as some previous goals were not achievable due to the Covid-19 pandemic, and were carried over into the new year.

“One of these projects which are well underway is the start of the business forum in the Randburg CBD, which has been previously identified as a crime hotspot.”

Wetton added she is grateful for the assistance of her executive team: Ian Joule (deputy chairperson), Rene Richards (secretary), Pommie Lutchman (public relations officer), Will Gruver (treasurer) and the three-sector chairs (Trishana Moodley, Lewis Spense and Linda Bester).

“It is an honour to be serving as the chairperson for this term surrounded by such a supportive team, and we look forward to working with the community and Randburg police in the weeks, months and years to come.”
