Region E reaps the benefits of service delivery drive
SANDTON – JRA announces that it has fixed 3 000 potholes in Region E since the relaunch of the A Re Sebetseng initiative on February 14.
The City was hard at work across Region E since the relaunch of the A Re Sebetseng initiative on February 14.
The initiative, previously reported in Service delivery tackled [Week ending February 25], was relaunched by City of Johannesburg Executive Mayor Dr Mpho Phalatse in the region which includes Alexandra, Marlboro, Sandton, Orange Grove and surrounding areas.
“We are embarking on this campaign because local government is a collective work that requires all stakeholders – the City, residents and businesses – to play their part because the reality is that the City’s administration cannot build a well-run Johannesburg on its own,” said Phalatse.
In an update by Johannesburg Roads Agency on February 22, the municipal utility announced that it had repaired 3 000 potholes since the relaunch.
According to the roads agency, maintenance teams from various regions managed to roll back the service query backlog by:
- Filling 1 496 potholes
- Repairing 1 311 deep road patches
- Unblocking 293 blocked kerb inlets and pipes
- Sealing 650 cracks on certain roads
- Refilling 236 reinstatements
- Fixing and installing 115 guardrails.
“In addition to the above, the teams also painted new road markings and applied asphalt overlay on several roads in Alexandra and Kramerville,” said the agency.
