Sandton young professionals help those in need

SANDTON – According to Palesa Sekese, chairperson of the BMF Sandton Young Professionals, the forum adopted the orphanage as part of its community development portfolio.

These local young professionals are making a difference, one meal at a time.

Following the successful launch of its community initiative in January last year to support the non-profit organisation Ratang Bana in Alexandra, the young professionals of the Black Management Forum (BMF) Sandton branch recently raised over R10 000 in donations and food parcels.

The food parcel delivery was accepted by the orphanage on February 3 with big smiles and excitement.

According to Palesa Sekese, chairperson of the BMF Sandton Young Professionals, the forum adopted the orphanage last year as part of its community development portfolio.

As a result, more young professionals and businesses in the Sandton area have joined the initiative over the last 12 months, pledging their support to assist over 500 children at the non-profit organisation.

“We have successfully helped launch the baking project and Seta training centre at Ratang Bana, where bread and pizza are baked daily to sell to the community to bring in money for the orphanage.”

The forum has also helped to erect a sign outside of the orphanage premises, making it easy for visitors to locate.

“Our aim is to provide a positive contribution and impact to society and identify areas where the most help is needed.

“We are grateful for all the support in ensuring the success of this initiative and future initiatives to come. We are particularly committing ourselves to achieve the United Nations goal of #Zero Hunger by 2030.”
