Ashraful Aid lends a helping hand in Alex
MARLBORO – This comes as part of a R50 000 donation from the Shoprite Group to support the organisations relief efforts in KwaZulu-Natal and Gauteng.
Marlboro-based humanitarian organisation Ashraful Aid recently handed over R10 000 worth of essential goods to Alex Hospice and Rehabilitation Centre to assist those in need.
This comes as part of a R50 000 donation from the Shoprite Group to support the organisation’s relief efforts in KwaZulu-Natal and Gauteng.
According to the organisation’s executive director Moulana Suhail Wadee, many families like those at Alex Hospice were impacted during the social unrest in July last year and continue to feel the effects thereof.
“With this support, Alex Hospice and Rehabilitation Centre now has more items easily available for their daily needs to assist terminally ill patients.
“We have also identified the needs of several other institutions nationwide and during the month of January and February we will disperse the rest of the R50 000 [that we] received.”
Alex Hospice and Rehabilitation Centre was created after it was found that people with terminal and chronic ailments such as HIV/Aids were being neglected within the community.
