A taste of the pizza origin with Napz Pizzeria Napoletana

SANDTON – Enrico pays homage with his pizzas to both his sources of inspirations: family and Naples

An Italian family tradition of producing homemade quality meals such as ravioli, risotto and even pizza has always been in Enrico’s blood since he was a toddler growing up in an Italian background.

Enrico Adinolfi, who co-owns a pizzeria company with his wife, Viviana, has been serving the streets of Johannesburg with quality pizza straight from the land of Italy. This is the origin of the company based in Craighall, Napz Pizzeria Napoletana.

Established in 2020, Napz Pizzeria Napoletana, is a fusion of Cava de Tirreni and Naples [locations in Italy] all wrapped into one. The word ‘Nap’ is derived from conversations that the Adinolfi household would often use to describe or identify individuals from Naples. “One aspect that makes us different is that we subscribe to traditional principles and processes of making our pizza. The other is the passion that we have for pizza, everything is made in-house. I make the dough and ingredients straight from scratch. We pride ourselves on authentic food and tradition,” said Adinolfi.

The 35-year old who was born in South Africa was inspired by a series of things when growing up. His passion for food started with his Italian father who would prepare meals for the family every Sunday around lunchtime. However, the final push which led to the creation of Napz was when he travelled to the United States of America. Enrico was exposed to an abundance of authentic Neapolitan restaurants during his time in the States and from then on, he never looked back.

“The next goal is to create a food chain or outlet within South Africa that promotes edginess, hip and freedom. I envision tradition and authentic mixed with a bit of chaos to form what we call Napz Pizzeria Napoletana. The market hosted by Born in Joburg in Sandton was one of my favourites. Despite the rain, the vibe and the people were just right. It identified our company perfectly,” concluded Adinolfi.
