Bryanston Country Club celebrates the Presidents Cup

BRYANSTON – Father-and-son duo Jim and Matthew Smurthwaite took home the overall win.

Bryanston Country Club honoured the players who gave it their all at the Presidents Cup on November 28.

The club’s last trophy event of the year saw participants endure 36 holes in tough conditions. Due to the excess rain no one was allowed to use a cart.

According to marketing manager Tilani Edwards, in an ongoing effort to become genderless and promote equal rights for all major tournaments at the club, the coveted Presidents Cup was opened to women members last year.

This addition translated well this year as there were quite a number of women out on the greens.

“We also had all kinds of combinations, such as husbands and wives, fathers and sons, and husbands competing against wives.”

At the end of the end of the competition, everyone involved attended the prize-giving event.

Father-and-son duo Jim and Matthew Smurthwaite took home the overall win.
