The Sandton Ladies Circle is a group of Sandton-residents, between the ages of 18 and 45, who spearhead a number of community and fundraising projects each year.

According to the vice-chairlady Susan de Kock, the community group, officially chartered in 2019, subscribes to the motto of ‘friendship and service’.

“We regard ourselves as strong women who are never afraid to take up a challenge to make a difference in our community and often come up with new, unique ideas,” she said.

The Circle more recently participated in a ‘side-by-side’ project with Doorway to Dignity charity. Through the charity’s Pots of Hope event, members of the community came together to cook and distribute potjie food to more than 600 displaced people.

One of the group’s ongoing fundraisers is the Car Boot Sale whereby members collects good from the community and sell at the Car Boot Sale in Midrand.

All of the funds raised go towards supporting the group’s many ongoing projects.

Long-time Circle member and social convener Nicola Ferreira, added that being involved with the community has made her and many others realise just how fortunate they were.

“To be a service to your community exposes you to another person’s story. It allows you to learn from them, to be inspired by them but also sometimes to help them,” she said.
