Rain blesses participants of the Cape Town run and ride

SANDTON – "The cause is our biggest drive and motivation. The weather is not even an issue," said Dayle Raaff

One organisation, two events, 19 riders, 32 runners and 1 520km is considered madness to some but, for the members of Mad2Adventures, this is seen as a walk in the park.

The Make a Difference Leadership Foundation also known as Mad2Adventures, started their journey from Sandton Square to Cape Town in the early rainy hours of October 8 to raise funds for learners who have no means to pay for their education . The participants of the adventure were separated into two teams – the Mad2Ride team who will be cycling and the Mad2Run team who will be running to Cape Town.

Founder of Mad2Adventures, Shaun Raaff, started the organisation back in 2012 with the help of his wife, Dayle and a few friends to help the less fortunate to pay for their education.

Dayle discussed the challenges that the participants faced during the preparation for the challenge.

“It’s been a difficult year from a Covid-19 perspective, from isolation to the lack of training. It has been a struggle to keep people together. So much of your motivation, drive and energy as a team comes from physically being together. Luckily, we were all there for each other emotionally. The cause is our biggest drive and motivation. The weather is not even an issue,” said Dayle.

The participants are set to reach there destination on October 15, exactly a week from now.
