Morningside Country Club celebrates Heritage Day with a game of bowling and braai
MORNINGSIDE – "The bowling committee organised this wonderful Heritage Day event, it's basically people coming together to enjoy themselves in a game of bowling and end it off with a braai," says Collin Dejager
The Morningside Country Club hosted its bowling Heritage Day celebration on September 24.
The bowling and braai event was in full swing from 08:30 till late, offering the community of Morningside a chance to relax and socialise through a peaceful game of bowling.
Members and visitors were allowed to bowl wearing their traditional attire throughout the course of the day, which distracted a few players.
Captain of the bowling committee, Colin de Jager said, “The bowling committee organised this wonderful Heritage Day event. It’s basically people coming together to enjoy themselves in a game of bowling and end it off with a braai. We, as the Morningside Bowls Committee, have been encouraging more people from different age groups, genders and races to join. If you look at the sport right now, we can see that it is slowly dying based on the majority of the people who are playing. The sport needs more diversity, it will make me and the organisation happy.”
Participants enjoyed food at the end of the Heritage Day bowling game celebration which ended with banter and laughter.
