A visit to Sloane’s biltong counter offers you a wide selection, including some unusual items such as bacon biltong and Sloane’s dry wors wagon wheels. Our friendly biltong master will happily fulfil any biltong requests, whether you like it dry or wet, fatty or lean, in sticks, sliced or chunked. No big sports event would be complete without a bag of Sloane’s award-winning biltong.

At Sloane’s Butchery and Deli, the customer’s wish is our command and we offer many personal and helpful services including:
- We are happy to custom-make or cut any meat product you request, just bring in your recipe book and we will provide you with the perfect cut
- We offer a cooler box packing service for holidays where your meat can be frozen prior to your trip in your own cooler box and you can also add some of Sloane’s delicious home-cooked meals (we have a range of over 30 to choose from) to take the stress out of holiday catering.
- Having a book club or a dinner party? No problem! Pick your cut of meat or home-cooked meal and Sloane’s Butchery and Deli will roast or cook it for you, so you can just pick it up and take the credit … think roast lamb with roast potatoes and creamed spinach and finish the meal with our yummy chocolate mousse, for example.
- If shopping is not your style, or if you are ill, we offer home deliveries straight to your door within 24 hours.
- A daily lunchtime braai counter from Monday to Friday offers a variety of traditional lunchtime braai meat.
- And if you don’t want the pressure of catering an event yourself, why not outsource your function to Sloane’s legendary spitbraai catering team. They will bring everything needed, cook, clean up and leave – no mess, no fuss.
- They also offer corporate catering solutions from the basics like prego rolls to a Rolls Royce spitbraai with all the trimmings.
On the topic of Sloane’s spitbraais, no event is too big or too small. We offer a wide selection of options from the traditional lamb spitbraai to a spit kebab with a variety of different meat. You also have the option of adding salads, side dishes and desserts to your function for a complete turnkey catering solution. The spitbraai catering heritage started a long time ago. Owner Hans Heydra says, “My grandfather first came to South Africa as an accomplished Dutch polony maker in the 1950s. After arriving here, he went to work for a polony-making company, and several years later opened his first butchery. It was here where he catered his first spitbraai function.
“This skill was passed onto my father, the late Hans Snr, and he too started his own butchery business in the 1970s. They also ran spitbraai functions alongside his butchery and then, in 1996, I too went to work for my father in the butchery business (Sloane Meat Market). So, as luck would have it, I’m am now the third generation Spitbraai Master.”
Hans Heydra Jnr is continuing the tradition at Sloane’s Butchery and Deli (Est 2021). When booking your function, you have the reassurance that Sloane’s has over 20 years of experience in running spitbraai catering.
