Montrose Primary School: Prioritising languages

Montrose Primary School proudly offers isiZulu as a second first additional language option for selection, together with Afrikaans, which although started in 2016, will be available to all Grade 4 – 7 learners in 2022.

Deputy principal Miss Tshililo Maivha said, “This language offering gives learners a solid foundation to pursue isiZulu as one of their high school academic subjects. We strive to develop isiZulu as an academic and creative language as it is important to have exposure to different languages.”

Learner area manager Mrs Cynthia Makola said, “It is my job to check for continuity from grade to grade and from one phase to the other, attending workshops in order to remain up to date with new teaching ideas.”
