A human perspective from this Bryanston poet

After the success of her first book Moments, the Bryanston resident has launched Love Hangovers and Notes from the Pandemic and Other Anxiety Born Things.

Following the release of her debut book last year, poet Mich Atagana is back with two new titles.

After the success of her first book Moments, the Bryanston resident has launched Love Hangovers, a collection of poems, and Notes from the Pandemic and Other Anxiety Born Things, a collection of poems and essays.

According to Atagana, she had so much more material to share with the world after the release of Moments.

“Working from home and having our movements restricted gave me the time to put pen to paper and get these stories out.”

In Love Hangovers Atagana gives us another a window into her heart, reminding us that even in being broken, there is healing and love. Through the use of poetry, she is able to express love through various stages, namely longing, breaking and loving.

Through Notes from the Pandemic and Other Anxiety Born Things Atagana was able to examine her own anxieties while navigating the unpredictability of the pandemic.

“These books showcase human emotions, the way in which we all are learning to navigate life in isolation and dealing with our pain and our sense of self in these unprecedented times while also falling in love, staying in love and living through heartbreak, dealing with our anxieties and those of our loved ones and making sure we come out the other side with grace and kindness.”

She added that there has been much focus on the devastating effects of the pandemic on economies and healthcare systems, so it was important for Atagana to offer a human perspective on the experience.

“My hope is that these stories will give the reader hope in surviving the pandemic and gesture towards a post-Covid future that is less isolated.”

All three titles are available on Amazon in paperback as well as Kindle format.
