Creating safe spaces for all

SANDTON – The platform was well received across the country with various schools introducing the platform to its communities.

Whistleblowing tool FaceUp South Africa is giving a voice to the voiceless.

This is according to long-time Sandton resident and registered counsellor Cayley Jorgensen who heads up FaceUp South Africa.

Working in the mental health field as a counsellor has allowed Jorgensen to identify a gap in how mental health challenges, suicide and bullying were reported by learners in schools.

She later had the opportunity to partner with the creators of FaceUp and launched it in South Africa. “We began the lengthy journey of translations from Czech to English as well as adding features to fit the South African population.

“FaceUp aims to empower children, teenagers and adults to take control of their psychological, emotional and mental well-being. “FaceUp is an evidence-based preventative model with the power to inform research and intervention programmes,” said Jorgensen.

It enables organisations to intervene timelessly and offer the help that is needed and potentially save a life.

The platform was well received across the country with various schools introducing the platform to its communities.

“We are currently in around 50 schools in South Africa and over 2 000 worldwide. The feedback that I have received from school heads, teachers and learners has been incredible.”

Schools feel more confident and empowered while learners feel safer knowing that if they do need any help they can reach out and simply ask.

“By launching FaceUp, the school is taking an active step in showing their learners that it’s okay not to be okay but there is help available,” said Jorgensen.

Following the success in the schooling community, FaceUp South Africa launched a version for businesses.

“Whether physical or virtual, at FaceUp we believe that both work and learning environments should be a place of security, trust and safety for all.”
