Children back on the soccer field at Highlands Park FC

LINKSFIELD – Children were elated to get back on the soccer field following months of Zoom classes.

Children were elated to return to soccer at the Highlands Park Junior Football Club in Gemmel Park, Linksfield, from February this year.

The soccer group, which caters for U6 to U19 children, has grown immensely since its inception almost 60 years ago.

Coordinator of the group Debbie Ilouze said that they are currently full with a total of 400 children participating in the various age groups.

“Last year was really tough with kids unable to interact. As soon as we were given the green light, we were back, with the children excited to get out and about,” said Ilouze.

“We are here to develop children’s football skills and allow them to have fun. This is such a healthy option for kids and it’s good for their mental well-being.”

“Quite a number of the children in our group have learning and social difficulties, but playing football helps to close the physical gap and promotes good mental health.”
