City Parks service delivery blitz hits Marlboro

MARLBORO – Johannesburg City Parks and Zoo’s service delivery campaign forms part of Executive Mayor Geoff Makhubo’s call for a #KleenaJoburg

The Johannesburg City Parks and Zoo’s service delivery blitz comes to Region E in Marlboro.

City Parks initially kicked off its service delivery blitz at the beginning of this year in an effort to catch up on the backlog of maintenance in and around the city. MMC of Community Development Margaret Arnolds joined the team in Marlboro on 3 March to not only conduct oversight but also lend a helping hand.

According to Gillian Pillay, spokesperson for the office of the MMC of Community Development, the blitz drive is an extensive and wide-spread programme that covers a series of horticultural activities.

“It is anything from grass cutting, litter picking, cutting down alien trees or trees that are not beneficial to the environment. It is about maintaining the area and making the space user friendly and clean for the communities across the city,” she said.

City Parks’ service delivery campaign forms part of Executive Mayor Geoff Makhubo’s call for a #KleenaJoburg and attends to the pleas from communities for well-maintained open spaces and visible service delivery.

The blitz drive is expected to run until mid-April, covering every region across the city.
