Covid-19 cases in Joburg’s Region E continue to rise

JOBURG – The region includes the suburbs of Alexandra, Wynberg, Sandton, Orange Grove and Houghton.

Covid-19 cases in Johannesburg’s region E continue to increase at a rapid pace.

The Gauteng Department of Health has confirmed that the region recorded 192 new cases and 276 cumulative Covid-19-related deaths as of 13 January.

The region includes the suburbs of Alexandra, Wynberg, Sandton, Orange Grove and Houghton.

Also in the northern suburbs, region B recorded an increase of 136 new cases and 192 Covid-19-cumulative deaths.

Suburbs in the region include Randburg, Rosebank, Emmarentia, Greenside, Melville, Mayfair, Northcliff, Parktown and Parktown North.

The City of Johannesburg was officially identified as a hotspot by President Cyril Ramaphosa last month.
