Suspects arrested for possession of suspected stolen cell phone tower batteries in Marlboro

SANDTON – The suspects were detained at the Sandton Police Station following the arrest on 2 January.

Three suspects were arrested by Metro police on 2 January at 1.45pm for possession of 19 suspected stolen cell phone tower batteries.

According to the spokesperson of the Sandton Police Station Captain Bheki Xulu, a Johannesburg Metro Police Department officer stopped a suspicious white Hyundai H100 on the M1 North and Marlboro off-ramp.

“The vehicle was loaded with items covered with a black sail. Police found 19 tower batteries which were presumed stolen,” said Xulu.

He said that two male suspects and one woman between the ages of 28 and 43 were arrested for possession of stolen property.

The suspects have been detained at the Sandton Police Station.
