Hyde Park High honours newly elected councillors

HYDE PARK– Councillors from Hyde Park high were introduced to the learners in staggered assemblies, in order to maintain all Covid-19 protocols, by means of the Grey Tie ceremony

Ending off the year on a high note, Hyde Park High School celebrated its newly elected senior councillors and head prefects for next year.

The councillors were introduced to the learners in staggered assemblies, in order to maintain all Covid-19 protocols, by means of the Grey Tie ceremony.

“The grey tie symbolises the leaders who will lead the school through the final stretch of 2020 while the matrics write their finals. These leaders will be formally inducted early in the new year when they will receive their official blue leadership ties,” said the school’s Avril Wright.

School principal Melanie Kallie emphasised that the learners were recognised as being an outstanding example of all that the school represents, urging all of the learners to work together in the year ahead.

The councillors will be led by head prefects Kayleigh Isaacs and Beau Nsala and deputy head prefects Zaiden Shaik and Diallo Mohapi.

Kallie reminded the learners of their exceptional opportunity to write the Independent Examination Board Matric Examination, providing them with quality education in preparation for their future studies.

“Hyde Park High School is the only government school to afford them [the learners] this learning experience, giving learners the advantage of a private school education at a government school,” said Kallie.

Newly elected head girl Kayleigh Isaacs expressed her joy and surprise at the announcement of her election and stated that the role was one that she was proud to fulfil and represent Hyde Park High.
