Shooting incident leaves one dead in Marlboro

MARLBORO – A second security officer was assessed and found to have sustained minor injuries.

A male security officer was killed and another injured following a shooting incident on the corner of Thora Crescent Street and Pretoria Main Road in Marlboro this morning, 27 October.

Russel Meiring,  ER24 Spokesperson said ER24 paramedics, along with other services, arrived on the scene to find the local authorities already in attendance.

“On closer inspection, medics found a security officer lying inside an informal home. Medics assessed the man and found that he had sustained a gunshot wound to his chest and showed no signs of life. Unfortunately, nothing could be done for him, and he was declared dead,” explained Meiring.

Meiring added that a second security officer was assessed and found to have sustained minor injuries. The man was treated and thereafter transported by another service to a nearby hospital.

“The details surrounding this incident are not yet known, but local authorities were on the scene for further investigations,” concluded Meiring.
