Pedal for paws this spring

There is no sign-up fee but participants are encouraged to raise a minimum of R500.

It is time to get out your cycling shoes and bicycles in support of the furry friends at the South African Guide-Dogs Association for the Blind.

Celebrate spring with the association by entering its virtual Pedal for our Paws cycle challenge. Members of the community are encouraged to cycle 101km between 24 August and 7 September to help raise funds for the association.

Teams are also welcome to take part, collectively cycling the 101km distance.

Participants will set up their own page on the GivenGain fundraising platform to encourage family, friends and colleagues to support and sponsor their ride. The page will be connected to the association’s fundraising page so that all funds raised by each individual or team will automatically be paid into the Guide-Dogs Association account.

Although there is no sign-up fee, participants are encouraged to raise a minimum of R500. “If you have friends or family who would like to support you but do not want to use GivenGain, electronic transfers can be arranged,” said the association’s Jackie Quail.

The use of stationary bikes is also permitted.
