Imperial Lions to host annual awards on YouTube

The much-anticipated Annual Lions Cricket Awards are set to take place virtually on 27 August.
The awards will kick off at 7pm on YouTube, with the Imperial Lions honouring players with the theme #CelebratingTheBest.
“We’ve achieved so much this last year, and despite the challenging times, we believe in celebrating success,” said Lions Cricket CEO, Jono Leaf-Wright.
“Our players, coaches and staff have worked tirelessly on the field and off it, pre- and during Covid-19. They’ve served both the franchise and the game of cricket with great pride and now it’s our time to thank them, albeit virtually via YouTube.”
Some of Lions Cricket 2019/20 Achievements include the following:
- 2019/2020 Gauteng Sport Team of the Year
- Retaining the Cricket South Africa Four-Day Domestic Series Championship
- Runners up in the Momentum One-Day Cup
- Receiving the CSA Coach of the Year award
- Seven Imperial Lions selected for various Proteas games
- Being named the most transformed team in the country.
Lions Cricket Award categories:
- Most improved player of the year
- National representation
- Presidential award
- Fielder of the year
- Batsman of the year
- Bowler of the year
- Player’s player of the year
- Voluntary Service Award: This award will go to the player /players who have gone the extra mile during this Covid-19 pandemic
- Lions fans player of the yearn Player of the year.
