Suspect arrested for cell phone robbery in Woodmead

WOODMEAD – The detectives then followed-up on the information given by the victim and arrested the suspect at his residence.

A suspect was arrested in Woodmead on 13 July for cell phone robbery.

According to Sandton Police Station spokesperson Captain Granville Meyer, the suspect (32) allegedly robbed his victim of a cell phone to the value of R5 000 after he pulled him over on Woodmead Drive on 22 June. “The suspect then drove off in his vehicle after the incident. The detectives then followed-up on the information given by the victim and arrested the suspect at his residence,” added Meyer.

The suspect appeared in the Alexandra Regional Court in 14 July. “We appeal to anyone who may have any information on crime to contact the SAPS on the Crime Stop number 08600 10111,” said Meyer. Information can also be shared via the MySAPS app which can easily be downloaded via the Play Store on any iPhone or Android device.”All information will be treated with the strictest confidence and informers may remain anonymous.”
