Marlboro Pikitup Depot temporarily closed

MARLBORO – The facility will reopen on 6 July after it has been decontaminated.

Waste management entity Pikitup has closed its depot in Marlboro after a staff member tested positive for Covid-19.

The office of MMC of Environmental and Infrastructural Services Mpho Moerane confirmed that the depot was closed with immediate effect on 2 July.

The facility will reopen on 6 July after it has been decontaminated.

“Waste collection services will be rendered through augmented services in all the areas serviced by the depot,” said spokesperson Stan Itshegetseng.

Itshegetseng added that the entity’s board of directors remain concerned about the rise in infections despite the additional safety precautions put in place by management.

“The board encourages all employees to adhere to the health protocols as provided by the health team, to maintain social distancing; wear face masks at all times, wash hands with soap and water or alternative use sanitisers,” he added.

Pikitup has ensured that it will do everything in its power to ensure that employees are protected and supported during this time of uncertainty.
