Services at the Sandton Licensing Centre in Marlboro have been suspended after an employee in the bulk licensing unit tested positive for Covid-19.
The centre was closed with immediate effect on Wednesday, 24 June.
The City of Johannesburg’s Public Safety Department said that it will remain closed until Sunday 28 June.
“As a precautionary measure and in line with the National Department of Health protocols and guidelines, the building has been immediately closed, pending the process of deep cleaning and disinfection,” noted MMC of Public Safety Mally Mokoena.
Staff members from all of the centre’s units have been sent for screening while those who were in direct contact with the affected employee are set to undergo testing while in self-quarantine.
“The well-being of our staff, especially those on the front line, is our greatest concern. As such, we will continue to ensure that all the requisite measures and practices for the protection of our employees are in place at all times,” Mokoena added.
The MMC’s office would like to encourage all employees to continue following the necessary preventative measures to stay safe.
