Mass screening and testing conducted in Sandton
PARKMORE – Residents in Johannesburg’s northern suburbs of regions B and E came to get tested for Covid-19 the George Lee Park in Sandton.
Mass screening and testing for Covid-19 was in full swing on 22 May at George Lee Park in Parkmore.
Nurses and healthcare workers conducted free screening throughout the morning.

Although people with flu-like symptoms, people over the age of 60 and those with co-morbid chronic conditions such as diabetes, asthma, hypertension, HIV and TB were particularly targeted for testing, all were welcomed.
According to the City of Johannesburg, screening is done to determine if a person should be tested.
Individuals are screened by means of a survey pertaining to their current health state and movements

Once screened and reverted for testing, a polymerase chain reaction (PCR) swab test is conducted in a separate room by nurses fitted in full body personal protective gear.
Once the swab test is completed, it will be sent to be analysed and individuals will receive a communication stipulating if they have tested positive or negative for the coronavirus.
Mass screening and testing efforts are proving to be particularly important in regions B and E as both were regions were identified as the epicentre of the virus outbreak in Johannesburg.
