Home affairs offices expand services

Birth registration will only be done for children born from 26 February 2020.

The Department of Home Affairs announced two additional services which began on 4 May.

The department announced on 25 March that it only offer limited services during the lockdown period.

Following the transition to level four, the department has revised its service offering and operating hours.

In addition to the issuing of temporary identity certificates, issuing of death certificates and re-issuing of birth certificates, the public will now be permitted to register the birth of a baby and collect identity documents.

Birth registration will only be done for children born from 26 February 2020.

In addition, all offices have returned to normal operating hours from 8am to 4pm on weekdays (Monday to Friday).

All applications can be made on the department’s website www.dha.gov.za
