Region B Covid-19 cases rise to 158

SANDTON – The City of Johannesburg has recorded 632 recoveries as of 6 May.

The City of Johannesburg saw an increase of eight confirmed cases of Covid-19 as of 6 May.

In its district breakdown, the Gauteng Department of Health noted that while the city still remains at the epicentre of the outbreak in the province, sitting a total of 979 cases,  it has recorded 632 recoveries with 93 unallocated cases.

The city’s northern suburbs in Region E recorded no new cases while Region B recorded two additional cases.

Region B, which includes Randburg, Rosebank, Emmarentia, Greenside, Melville, Mayfair, Northcliff, Parktown and Parktown North, now stands at a total of 158 cases.

Region E, which includes Alexandra, Wynberg, Sandton, Orange Grove and Houghton, has remained at 265.

To date, both regions continue to record the highest number of Covid-19 cases in Johannesburg.
