Catching up with Kaiyuree Moodley

BRYANSTON– We caught up with golfer Kaiyuree Moodley about her participation in the Major Champions Invitational in the United States of America.

Golfing star Kaiyuree Moodley recently soared to new heights in the Major Champions Invitational tournament in Arizona in the United States of America.

The tournament took place from 25 to 30 January and her team Annika tied fifth. Handpicked by women’s golfing legend Annika Sörenstam, Moodley had great fun while abroad.

“It was great fun, we were able to meet Sir Nick Faldo who was the host. Just getting to meet all types of different people from all parts of the world and playing against all of them was amazing and showing them that South Africans can actually play golf. There was also another boy from Cape Town who was on the team so it was nice to have someone from home,” she said.

Some of her highlights were meeting some teammates who will join her at university in the States this August.

“I think just experiencing the tournament together as a team was definitely a highlight. Golf is usually an individual game, so having a team spirit for once it actually was quite nice,” she said.

Describing the sport as something that gives her joy, Moodley will be spending her 21 days of the lockdown working on her swing.

“I’ll be spending the lockdown on fitness. You know there are certain fitness things you can do at home you don’t need to go outside or go to the gym. Spending time with family because usually, I am never at home, so making some time for them will be nice to do.”

She would also like to reiterate the message of staying home and staying safe during this time.
