In tweets: Nurses at Netcare Parklane Hospital protest against unfair labour practices at the hands of their bosses
PARKLANE – The Young Nurses Indaba Trade Union urged the private sector to stop using care workers as replacements for nurses that speak up against the treatment they are subjected to at various Netcare hospitals.
Today, 4 March, the Young Nurses Indaba Trade Union (YNITU) is at Netcare Parklane Hospital marching for an end to what they are calling colonial and abusive behaviour towards them by the private healthcare sector in South Africa.
According to the president of YNITU Lerato Madumo-Gova, nurses at Netcare Parklane Hospital are subjected to brutality and unfair treatment by their bosses. “Nurses are charged at Netcare Parklane for not performing activities that are outside their scope of practice, let alone procedures that are not even prescribed by the attending doctor.”

Madum0-Gova stated in a released statement that YNITU wants to make it clear that there is no institutional policy that will ever be above the Constitution of the country and the Labour Relations Act.
