WATCH: Nehawu protest for better working conditions at Department of Education offices Parkmore

PARKMORE – The National Education, Health and Allied Workers' Union (Nehawu) protest for better working conditions.


The National Education, Health and Allied Workers ‘Union (Nehawu) is protesting outside the Department of Education offices in Parkmore. The reason for the protest is working conditions, particularly occupational health and safety.

Sandton Chronicle journalist,  Chante’ Ho Hip is at the protest today (3 March).

Marvelous Ndlovu Nehawu Johannesburg East District Ndlovu secretary said that they will be back every day until the problem is solved as they were not supposed to come into this with some of these alleged problems.

Concerns:

  • Ablution blocks (shortage and lack of maintenance) – it is alleged that a few employees even contracted illnesses
  • Rats in the building
  • The building is not disability friendly
  • Leaking roofs
