Brescia equestrian dominates

BRYANSTON – Brescia House Primary School equestrian Emma-Jayne takes gold at SA Champs.

Brescia House Primary School learner and passion-driven equestrian Emma-Jayne Simmonds recently attained phenomenal results in her dressage and freestyle dressage competitions at the South African Championships.

From the age of five, Emma-Jayne has remained a passionate rider, according to her mother Claudette. “She has competed for Brescia House Primary School for six years and has recently been appointed as one of the primary school equestrian captains,” she said.

The young rider was introduced to her horse Midas Touch in 2017 at Cedar Ridge Riding School and the pair have become an unstoppable duo ever since. “The pair have been successfully competing for the past two years; culminating in a gold medal at the 2019 South African Champs Novice Freestyle Dressage competition, held at KEP in December,” Claudette said.

“Horse riding is a phenomenal sport to be involved in, horses teach their riders so much – riding is the prize! We always say, the rewards and medals, ribbons and mentions are merely the ‘carrot’ on the top!”
