Redhill learners selected for Joburg Mini Council

MORNINSIDE – Double cheers for Redhill School as two if its learners, Yasi Wainer and Liam Finnemore, have been selected for next year's Johannesburg Mini Council.

Redhill School learners Yasi Wainer and Liam Finnemore have been selected for next year’s Johannesburg Mini Council (JMC). With the full support of both their parents and school, the Grade 6 learners are excited to begin their journey on the council.

According to Yasi’s father Sean Wainer, Redhill recently exposed its Grade 6 learners to the Johannesburg Mini City Counsellor programme. “Yasi was thrilled at the opportunity to not only help others but to meet new people and grow. She spilled her boundless passion and enthusiasm into a comprehensive letter and was put into a group of four finalists within the grade. After an event where the children were observed, she and Liam Finnemore were selected to proudly represent Redhill School,” he said.

With a specific focus on providing Grade 7 learners with leadership lessons that are invaluable for future development, the council has been affecting change in the lives of the city’s youth for over four decades.

“The (JMC) programme is intensive but rewarding. Yasi is looking forward to an awesome 2020, having a positive impact on others and growing her leadership skills,” Sean concluded.
