Pink Drive turns 10

SANDTON – South Africa's best-loved breast cancer community carer Pink Drive celebrates a decade of service.


Breast cancer benefit organisation, Pink Drive, celebrated 10 years of extending breast cancer awareness and testing by honouring its work with a treat at Sandton’s Convention Centre. The organisation was started by founder Noelene Kotschan in 2009 with the premise that ‘early detection will help prolong a life’.

According to Kotschan, her vision for Pink Drive was simple, “My first task was to paint a picture of where I wanted to take Pink Drive. Our NGO started with the incorporate with core human values such as trust, integrity and teamwork. We have now expanded to include reliable, ethical, available, consistent and most importantly, humble.”

The organisation is aimed to contribute meaningfully towards preventing as many people as it can from succumbing go breast, cervical, portage and testicular cancer. Although its services are free of charge, its primary focus remains on citizens who do not have access to reasonable care for these conditions.

The organisation has aided and impacted many lives in an array of communities no matter the environment. “We have set out to prove that it does not matter what your background is or where you live, you are entitled and should receive basic health care and education.”

Kotschan added that the organisation was particularly proud of its work in disadvantaged communities. “They do not have a voice to change this, we are now that voice. To change the country we live in, so much more focus is needed on developing the necessary basic care that all of us take for granted every day.”
