Montrose Primary achieves Blue Chip cricket status

PARKMORE – Montrose Primary School has achieved this year's Blue Chip status as awarded by Cricket South Africa.

Montrose Primary School achieved Blue Chip status this year, Cricket South Africa’s highest qualification rating for cricket school excellence.

According to the association’s youth and tertiary manager Niels Momberg, schools are judged through the Schools Cricket Index on a number of teams, total matches played, coaches’ qualifications, facilities and representation in teams.

School principal Sonette van Loggerenberg said, “I am so proud of our school and this accolade that has been given to us. This award is the culmination of many years of hard work from my sports department, cricket coaches, ground staff and progressive governing body who invested in cricket years ago.”

As the achievement is re-evaluated on a yearly basis by the association, van Loggerenberg is certain that the school will continue to excel, retaining its status.

“Today we celebrate this award and thank Cricket South Africa for acknowledging us. We as Montrose Primary School will continue to lead primary school cricket in the province and country and continue to feed players to the Central Gauteng Lions and Cricket South African talent pipeline,” she concluded.
