Operation Buya Mthetho meeting to address illegal connections among other things

SANDTON – "The City of Johannesburg is intensifying efforts to collect the outstanding municipal debt and address a worryingly growing debtor’s book," said the City.


According to a released statement by the City of Joburg, Member of the Mayoral Committee (MMC) for Finance, Funzela Ngobeni will join the interdepartmental task team under Operation Buya Mthetho, in its drive to root out illegal connections across the City of Johannesburg.

“This particular operation will focus on Region E, where this administration has also become aware of high-consuming corporate businesses which continue to display a flagrant disregard for settling long-outstanding municipal debts,” read the statement.

The City added that through Operation Buya Mthetho, the City of Johannesburg is intensifying efforts to collect the outstanding municipal debt and address a worryingly growing debtor’s book.

The meeting is today, 1 October at 2.30pm at the Sandton Customer Service Centre, Daisy Street at Sandton.
