Postponed: Don’t miss fundraising dinner to celebrate elephants with Elephants Alive

PARKHURST – Not only will you be wined and dined but entertained by famous guest speaker, Colin Bell.

Don’t miss the fundraising dinner to celebrate elephants during world elephant month with Elephants Alive. World Elephant Day is celebrated on 12 August.

Update: Due to unforeseen difficulties, the organisers have unfortunately had to postpone this event to later on next year.

Elephants Alive is a registered non-profit organisation which works tirelessly to ensure the survival of elephants and their habitats and to promote harmonious co-existence between man and elephants. Their quest involves delivering research solutions which acknowledge elephants as an integral part of the ecosystem they occupy.

The team works towards achieving a greater understanding of the complex relationships that elephants have with each other and their surroundings, including the people with whom they share their world.

It will be an evening not to be missed with guest speaker Colin Bell.

Bell landed his first job as a safari guide in 1977. In Botswana, elephants were skittish and aggressive – not surprising because ivory poaching was relentless and widespread. Colin’s passion for elephants was ingrained and 40 years later that enchantment led to the co-production of the newly published bestseller, The Last Elephants in partnership with Don Pinnock. Bell and Pinnock compiled the book from hundreds of photo submissions from all over Africa and over thirty written chapters, including submissions from Mali, DRC, Rwanda, Burundi, Botswana and South Africa. Surprisingly, nothing from Namibia.
