Sandton CPF hosts annual golf day to raise funds

BRYANSTON – Funds raised from the golf day will contribute to license plate recognition cameras and the CPF's command centre.

The Sandton Community Policing Forum (CPF) hosted its annual golf day to raise much-needed funds for the community organisation.

The golf day, hosted at the Bryanston Country Club, welcomed about 50 golf players to participate in the fundraising event.

Anthony Modena, the chairperson for the CPF said that the policing forum plays a role in developing good relationships between the community and police to build safer communities for all. The forum has identified a number of key initiatives in the community which included fostering job creation within indigent communities and rehabilitating the Braamfontein Spruit among others.

Funds raised will go towards license plate recognition cameras in hotspot areas, the planned Joint Command Centre, assisting the Sandton CPF Guardians and Sandton CPF Youth Desk, and will contribute towards the running costs of the Sandton CPF office.

The command centre is one of the CPF’s most ambitious plans and seeks to create a place where the CPF can work alongside law enforcement, security companies and the city council to help prevent and address crime in the community.

Linda Wilkins, the public relations officer for Sandton CPF, said that she was really happy with the turnout of the golf day. She added that the golf day had some great sponsors this year but they hope to get more big corporates involved in future.

The sponsors for the day included Fidelity ADT, CAP Group, Discovery Insure Ltd, Santam, 24/7 Security Services, Furion Security, SNIPR and Modena Design Centre.

To celebrate the end of the golf day, a prize-giving and dinner was hosted for the best golfers on the day. Top achievements on the day went to Trevor Sinclair and Roger Bulgin while other players were also celebrated for their scores on the day.

Details: Sandton CPF 011 722 4317.
