Three suspects arrested for robbery on Bryanston Drive

BRYANSTON – Police and security companies were flagged down following the incident and managed to find the trio involved in the robbery.

Three men will appear in the Randburg Magistrates’ Court following a robbery in Bryanston.

According to Captain Makgowanyana Maja, the spokesperson for the Randburg Police Station, it is alleged that on 23 June at approximately 1am, the victim was walking along Bryanston Drive with his friends when approached by three men.

The suspects requested the victim to call a taxi for them, but when the victim said he does not have airtime or data the suspects then grabbed him by the neck.

The other two friends ran away, however, when they saw that the suspects were assaulting the victim, the two friends returned to assist their friend. The suspects took the victim’s cellphone and ran away.

“Shortly after the incident occurred, the victim saw the police and security vehicles and informed them of what happened. The officers started to search for the suspects and they were found in the vicinity and the cellphone was recovered in their possession,” said Maja.

The three suspects were immediately placed under arrest.

“The management of the station likes to thank the security officers for their cooperation and further urges other security [companies] to come on board in order to fight crime together,” concluded Maja.
