Hundreds of residents took the opportunity to cast their vote around Sandton during the early morning during the national and provincial elections.

Party representatives were few and far between outside voting stations with only the top three parties, the African National Congress, Democratic Alliance and Economic Freedom Fighters, having representatives outside voting stations.

Ward 90 councillor Martin Williams, who voted on Monday, was present at the George Lea Park to show his support. Ward 91 councillor Jeffrey Pietersen was present at the Sandton Fire Station to help ensure that the voting process was running smoothly.

City of Johannesburg Mayor, Herman Mashaba, also cast his vote at the Sandton Fire Station and chatted with residents while waiting in line.

“I really urge you to come out and vote. The success of our multi-party government is really dependent on provincial government working with us,” said Mashaba while waiting to cast his vote.
