Sandton butler releases his third self-published book

SANDTON – Onkarabile Mokoto hopes to inspire others to obtain their goals through his self-published books.

A Sandton hotel employee, who has worked to change his odds and self-published three of his own books, has now been nominated for a SA Hero Award.

Onkarabile Mokoto was first featured in the Sandton Chronicle two years ago in Plan for success [Week ending 20 October] when he published his first two books. At the beginning of this year, Mokoto published his third book called, Rule through your knowledge. His previous two books were titled How to hear God when He speaks and Power of Planning.

Mokoto said the goal of his books is to inspire others – he hopes that through his own growth he can encourage others to improve their lives. “I knew that I wanted to write a book but I didn’t know where to go from there. It was a passion of mine and I learned all that I could. Now I want to help others do the same.”

Mokoto previously worked as a security guard but has since been promoted to butler. He said that balancing his job with writing his books and family time has been challenging but he is determined to continue to grow. “I didn’t want to have any excuse. We have all been given 24 hours; no person has been given 25 hours, so if there are people making it big then why can’t I?”

Following the success of his two previous books, Mokoto said that he was motivated to continue growing his career as an author and businessman. His nomination for the SA Hero Award has only encouraged Mokoto to continue working hard.

This year will be the inaugural SA Heroes Awards and it has been created to celebrate ordinary South Africans who do extraordinary things to uplift their community. Mokoto has been nominated in the youth empowerment category and said he felt so overwhelmed with happiness. “It says to me that I am on the right track and I’m so excited.

“I think it’s also an inspiration to others. I’m a hard worker and I don’t wait for things to come to me so I think that that encourages others to do the same. I think it shows people that I don’t allow my circumstances to define me but I just keep pushing.”
