Update: Cyclone Idia regains intensity, SA rescue teams land in Mozambique to assist

The world holds its breath as Cyclone Idia is expected to make landfall in Beira, Mozambique.


The South African weather service has forecasted more strong winds in Mozambique area Beira, as Cyclone Idia makes landfall at midnight, 14 March. 

South African rescue services have landed safely in Mozambique, one such rescue team is IPSS Medical Rescue.

The team was on route to Lenmed Maputo hospital. They monitored and tracked the cyclone and conducted a situational analysis.

Wind speeds could reach possible highs of 200 km/h and some businesses have closed shop as they prepare for the landfall. Cyclone Idia has been rampant, the death toll currently stands at 10 as provinces have been flooded by the heavy rains.
