The fifth week of the Montrose Night Challenge in Parkmore has come to a conclusion with teams preparing for the upcoming sixth and final week of the challenge.
On 21 February, only the cricket games took place and the netball cames were postponed while schools had their midterm break.
In the first cricket match of the afternoon, Crawford Sandton beat Bryanston Primary School. Crawford Sandton scored 201/7 in their 20 overs. Bryanston Primary replied with 135/5 in the allotted 20 overs. The Sportsmans Warehouse Man of the Match was awarded to Oliver Botha for scoring a century and the DJ Coaching Hero of the Match was awarded to Ross Garret for scoring 47.
In game two, Bryneven Primary School beat Crawford Fourways. Crawford Fourways were bowled out for 46 in 13.3 overs and Bryneven scored 52/3 in 6.3 overs. The Sportsmans Warehouse Man of the Match was awarded to Trent Collins for bowling figures of 4/5 in three overs. The DJ Coaching Hero of the Match was awarded to Damilola Dlulane for bowling figures of 2/12 in two overs
In the third match, KPT Lions scored 210/6 in 20 overs with Bryandale replying with 62 all out in 14.4 overs giving KPT Lions the win. The Sportsmans Warehouse Man of the Match was awarded to Tiisetso Maletsoa for scoring 55 runs. The DJ Coaching Hero of the Match was awarded to Giovanni Josephs for bowling figures of 2/6 in three overs.
In match four, Montrose scored 191/4 in their 20 overs with Crawford Lonehill replying with 76/3 in 11 overs until rain stopped play. Montrose was declared the winner on the Duckworth Lewis method. The Sportsmans Warehouse Man of the Match was awarded to Tyrell Khumalo for scoring 95. The DJ Coaching Hero of the Match was awarded to Fayaaz Vawda for bowling figures of 1/6 in two overs.
Next week the cricket fixtures will take place as follows:
- Game 1: Crawford Fourways vs Grayston
- Game 2: HeronBridge vs Beaulieu
- Game 3: Dainfern vs Montrose
- Game 4: Bryanston vs Kyalami
In the netball fixtures, 10 games will take place on the final afternoon.
