Bramley: Two suspects nabbed after shoot-out

SANDHURST – Swift reaction by police and security led to the arrest of two suspects in Sandhurst yesterday.

Police arrested two robbers after security officers responded swiftly to a robbery which occurred in Dunkeld on 31 January.

According to Captain Granville Meyer, spokesperson for the Sandton Police Station three suspects robbed a victim in the parking lot of a shopping centre in Dunkeld and sped off in a silver/grey Chevrolet.

“Police and security companies were immediately notified of the incident and on the lookout for the vehicle involved.”

Meyer said the vehicle was spotted on Empire Place in Sandhurst by security officers on patrol and the vehicle was pulled over.

The driver of the vehicle got out while the other two suspects fled on foot.

“In an attempt to apprehend the suspects, a shoot-out ensued and two suspects arrested, one of which was shot.”

A 9mm pistol with a magazine and ammunition was seized while the victim’s watch was later found in the vicinity of where the suspects fled.

Meyer added that a case of robbery and possession of an unlicensed firearm was opened at the Bramley Police Station.

“The suspects are currently in police detention and will appear in court once charged,” he ended.
