Residents assisted with power meter readings

PARKVIEW – The 20th until the 27th of every month is the time stipulated by the City for submissions of meter readings.

Residents, including pensioners, were invited to have a cup of coffee in Parkview while getting help from their local ward councillors.

Ward 87 councillor, Bridget Steer advised residents on how to deal with their power meter readings which she said should be sent from the 20th to the 27th of every month. Steer said that if you are being billed on estimates, for old or smart meters, you may email electricity readings to regionBestimations@citypower.co.za with a clear photo of the meter reading and meter number along with proof of date and account number.

Normal monthly meter readings (old meters) should be submitted as follows:

  • Take a photo of your meter with the meter number and reading clearly visible.
  • If possible, add the geolocation feature to capture the date, time and location on the picture as well.
  • Once you submit your reading, be sure to add your City of Joburg account number to link the two.
  • Once the image has been captured on the City’s systems, you will receive a screenshot upon request but generally, a blue-tick will notify you that the issue has been attended to.
