SANDTON – Randburg police recently arrested three suspects for alleged robbery on the corner of William Nicol Drive and Republic Road.

Three suspects who allegedly terrorised the community have been arrested.

The management of Randburg, Linden and Sandton police stations have welcomed the arrest.

According to Captain Makgowanyana Maja, the spokesperson for the Randburg Police Station, on 15 January Randburg police crime prevention members received a complaint of a robbery in progress on the corner of William Nicol Drive and Republic Road.

“The members received the description of the suspects, on their way to the scene, including the taxi in which they got in to get away,” he said.

Maja added that the suspects were spotted inside the taxi which was travelling on Wagon Street in Hurlingham.

He said the vehicle was stopped, the suspects were identified and searched.

“They were found in possession of a toy gun, knives and cell phone suspected to be stolen.”

The suspects were arrested and appeared in the Randburg Magistrates’ Court on 18 January to face charges of armed robbery, possession of a dangerous weapon and possession of suspected stolen property, and were remanded in custody.
